HONOR GUARD
Every year law enforcement officers and families of officers killed in the line of duty come the Lakeland to honor their memory. In cooperation with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 46 and the members of the Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial, a single red rose is placed at the marker of each law enforcement officer killed. A recent addition to the memorial ensured that there is room for more names even though all officers hope this will never happen. |

The Honor Guard at LPD partcipates in the posting of the colors at many large events and department related functions. While this is an important function, the HONOR GUARD also assists in funerals for retired officers and those killed in the line of duty. Members take great pride in this task as this is the way the Lakeland Police Department and the City of Lakeland can thank the families of the deceased for their service to the department and the community. |
