| VICTIM ASSISTANCE SERVICES
The Victim Assistance Progam at the Lakeland Police Department offers numerous services to victims of crime and/or their survivors.
We believe the value in helping make the victim or their family whole again helps victims recover from the traumatic experience of being the victim of a crime.
The list below are the services available to victims of crime or their families.
Types of Services
- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week availability of staff or volunteers to go to crime scenes, hospital, or other designated locations
- Crisis Intervention - at the crime scene or the hospital
- Assistance with completing resitution request
- Child care for court appearances related to initial victimization
- Court escort
- Criminal court orientation
- Transportation for services related to the initial victimization
- Assistance with filing victim compensation claims
- Assistance with property return
- Assistance with property repair
- Assistance with landlords, employers, or schools
- Accompaniment to line-ups
- Interviews and photo pack review
- Emergency financial assistance
- Body identification/death notification
The Lakeland Police Department's Victim Assistance Program offers a Victims' Support Group every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. It is held at the Police Department from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. This group allows victims of crime to come together and share their emotions.
