Current Projects

834-roadThe Public Works Construction & Maintenance Division is continually looking for ways to keep Lakeland citizens better informed about road, sidewalk, lake, stormwater, drainage, and other infrastructure improvements. The latest tool is a telephone line devoted to giving you the latest project information. The ROAD phone (834-ROAD) is updated at least weekly and has information regarding when, where, what, and for how long a project will take place. The message includes suggestions for alternate routes when they are suggested, and notifies you when roads will be closed totally.

Please check this phone message frequently and encourage your family and neighbors to do the same.

Lake Beulah Trail

As construction continues on Lake Beulah Trail project, motorist should be aware that construction activities will be present around the entire perimeter of Lake Beulah. Although no road closures are planned, minor delays are possible due to equipment and construction activities.

Shore Acres Storm Drain Construction

Update May 21, 2014:  Work in the Shore Acres neighborhood is not complete, but no construction activities will take place over the next few weeks.

West Highland Street Sidewalk Project

Sidewalk will be constructed on the South and North side of West Highland Street from Southern Avenue to Pinewood.  Motorists can expect periodic lane closures and minor delays while the project is in progress.

New Jersey Road Drainage

Drainage improvements have begun on New Jersey Road between Edgewood Drive and Crystal Lake Drive. The red light at the intersection of New Jersey Road & Sylvester Road has been placed in “all red” flash mode and should be treated as a three way stop. Minor delays and periodic lane closures can be expected. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Frank Lloyd Wright Way Sidewalk

Beginning Monday, June 9th Public Works construction crews will be installing new sidewalk on Frank Lloyd Wright Way between Ingraham Ave and Park Hill Ave. Frank Lloyd Wright Way will be closed to through traffic Mondays thru Thursdays 7am to 5pm. Detours will be clearly marked.
