Street Paving and Resurfacing
The City has 364 miles of paved streets. We operate two asphalt patch trucks to repair potholes and depressions. Another crew operates the paint striping truck which maintains traffic markings for all City streets and parking lots.
The City of Lakeland uses various paving strategies to maintain its roadway network. Some of those methods are: 1. Complete reconstruction. 2. Removing old asphalt layers (milling), applying crack relief material, and a leveling course with an overlay of asphalt paving. 3. Applying crack relief material, a leveling course, and an overlay of asphalt paving. 4. Microsurfacing 5. Recycling of existing asphalt with hot -in-place resurfacing.

Hot-In-Place Resurfacing
Hot-In-Place resurfacing is a system that removes existing asphalt from road surfaces, heats it, mixes it with a rejuvinator, and reapplies it to the road surface. This new system is environmentally friendly, and creates less inconvenience to travelers. |
