1. When do I need a Right of Way Permit? Who do I contact?
Anytime you are excavating or constructing anything in the City's right of way you will need a Right of Way Use Permit. Contact David Stroud in the Engineering Division at 863-834-8437, or send an e-mail to david.stroud@lakelandgov.net.

2. Where can I get an Engineering Standards Manual? Who do I contact and what will it cost?
An Engineering Standards Manual can now be downloaded in PDF format here.
A hardcopy version can be purchased for $50.00 and be obtained from the Public Works Department, Engineering Division located on the second floor of the City Hall building. For more information please call Gail Cherryhomes at 863-834-6001, or e-mail to pwengineering@lakelandgov.net.

3. What is the procedure for submitting development plans?
All development plans should be submitted to the Community Development Department's Building Inspection Division on the first floor of City Hall. For more information, call 863-834-6012.

4. Do I need a permit to install a driveway? Who do I contact for driveway information?
Yes. For residential driveways contact the Building Inspection Division at 863-834-6012. A Right of Way Use Permit is required to install commercial driveways, contact the Engineering Division at 863-834-8437.

5. Can you tell me if I'm in a flood zone or whom do I contact to find out?
You will need to contact a licensed registered surveyor or Civil engineer to make a flood determination. The City has FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps and citizens are welcome to view them. Contact David Stroud at 863-834-8437.

6. Is my property in the City or County and who maintains my street?
Use this link to determine if you are inside or outside limits.

7. Where is the nearest benchmark? Do you have any horizontal control?
The City survey crews maintain benchmarks throughout the City based on the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. The City survey crews maintain horizontal control points based on North American Datum of 1983, Adjustment of 1990 (or current adjustment), Florida State Plane, West Zone. 8. Someone placed flags and marks in my front yard. Did the City put them there? Does the City perform surveys to locate my lot corners?
All of the City's flags are marked with a phone number and logo. The City does not do surveys for individual use. If you need a survey you should contact a private surveyor. For further information call 863-834-6244.

9. Does the City inspect development sites and subdivisions?
The Public Works Department's Engineering Division inspects construction projects for roadways and stormwater facilities that will be maintained by the City. For further information, call (863)834-6246.

10. Who do I contact to get sewer tap information?
The Wastewater Division is responsible for all issues dealing with sanitary sewer. To obtain further information you may contact Wastewater Operations at 863-834-8277.

11. How can I find out if the City has any easements on my property or how wide the right of way is in front of my property?
You may review your property title information, legal description or recorded plot of your subdivision. For further assistance contact David Stroud at 863-834-8437.

12. My home and street flood. How can the city fix the problem?
The property owner should contact the City's Construction and Maintenance Division at 834-3300 to report the problem. The City will then evaluate the case and determine if the City is responsible for fixing the problem and what the actions may be.

13. Where do I call for light poles or electrical engineering questions?
Call the City's Electric Department at (863)834-6300.
