LAKELAND, FL (December 14, 2021) | The December 17^th Canned Tuna Concert with REX FLOYD will be rescheduled to a later date because of a band emergency.  The quarterly music series takes place in Munn Park and those that attend the events are encouraged to bring a can of tuna or another non-perishable food item to benefit Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE).  The eclectic Canned Tuna series includes all genres of music representing folk, rock, funk and even some southern twang.

LAKELAND, FL (December 13, 2021) | The City of Lakeland Division of Solid Waste provides once per week residential service with automated garbage collection, automated recycling collection, and yard waste collection. Residents can also notify Solid Waste for larger bulk item pick-up. Residential customers can get four (4) bulk collections, up to 20 cubic yards each, per calendar year. The calendar year runs from January 1st through December 31st.  City of Lakeland residents that need to schedule a bulk pickup should email customer service at solidwastemanagement@lakelandgov.net with your address and the type of material you have for collection.  Customers can also call 863/834-8773 to schedule a pickup.

LAKELAND, FL (December 6, 2021) - The City of Lakeland and the Florida Department of Transportation, District 1 (FDOT) are asking for public input regarding the proposed Tenoroc Trail Segment 1.  The community can virtually review the information by visiting www.lakelandgov.net/tenoroctrail. The public is asked to provide feedback and ask the team questions by submitting an email to info@lakelandgov.net.  Public comment deadline is set to end on Friday, January 14, 2022.

LAKELAND, FL (November 18, 2021) | Common Ground Playground, located at Publix Charities Park (1000 East Edgewood Drive), will close December 6^th through the 10^th to complete much needed tree trimming. The Parks & Recreation team will also work on other maintenance projects in the park space during the closure. 

LAKELAND, FL (November 16, 2021) | The Lakeland History and Culture Center is currently being constructed at the Lakeland Main Library (100 Lake Morton Drive). Once completed, the new 1,400 square foot space will feature visually appealing exhibits with narratives that tell Lakeland’s story.  The Inaugural exhibit, opening in Spring of 2022, will outline the importance of the railroad and how it was a core component that helped shape Lakeland’s early history.

LAKELAND, FL (November 15, 2021) | The Lakeland Christmas Parade is a time-honored tradition, enjoyed by the community for generations.  The parade takes place on Thursday, December 2^nd.  The parade starts with a firework display over Lake Mirror at 7 p.m.  As the first firework is launched, the parade officially begins.  Leaving the RP Funding Center, the parade travels down Lemon Street toward downtown.  The parade then turns at Main Street to Cedar Street and winds around Lake Mirror, going up Orange Street and ending at the RP Funding Center.
