LAKELAND, FL (January 14, 2025) –|The Lakeland Public Library, located at 100 Lake Morton Drive, will be temporarily closed for three days from Monday, January 27 through Wednesday, January 29, 2025. During the closure, staff will be relocating Youth Services collections and furniture back into the building from an offsite location.

LAKELAND, FL (January 2, 2025) – The City of Lakeland is excited to announce the 47th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on Saturday, January 18, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. This year’s theme, "Unity Through Diversity," will bring together over 100 participants in a celebration of Dr. King’s legacy of equality and unity.

LAKELAND, FL (February 1, 2024) | All are invited to celebrate Black History Month at the annual Black History Festival at Jackson Park on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be many artisan vendors, food trucks, activities, entertainment and much more for families to enjoy.

The City of Lakeland is looking for input from the community regarding the operations of Woodlake Park. 

LAKELAND, FL (August 8, 2023) | The City of Lakeland’s eLibrary South located at Lake Miriam Square (4740 South Florida Avenue) will close Saturday, September 2, 2023.

LAKELAND, FL (August 4, 2023) – Common Ground Park will close August 21^st through August 25^th for necessary tree work. 

LAKELAND, FL (July 27, 2023) | The Lakeland City Commission recently put plans in place to start a Lakeland Youth Council for the upcoming school year.

LAKELAND, FL (April 11, 2023) | The boardwalk and small fishing pier at Peterson Park are currently closed until further notice. The structures have deteriorated over time and City staff has deemed the structures unsafe. 

LAKELAND, FL (April 4, 2023) | Barnett Family Park located at 730 East Orange Street will be closing for repairs from April 18^th through May 8^th.  The splash pad, playgrounds and picnic area will all be impacted as part of the closure. 

LAKELAND, FL (October 20, 2022) | The City of Lakeland just completed the 42^nd Annual Swan Roundup.  This event allows the City’s swan veterinarian to oversee the health and vitality of Lakeland’s swan flock.  Dr. Price Dickson from My Pet’s Animal Hospital and her staff provided wellness examinations on the 73 swans that make up the Lake Morton flock.  There are three different breeds of swans, including Mute Swans, Australian Black Swans, and one lone Black Necked Swan.
