LAKELAND, FL (May 14, 2020) | Starting Monday, May 18th City of Lakeland solid waste services including yard waste pick-up will go back to normal operations.  City of Lakeland solid waste customers will have same day service for solid waste, recycling, and yard waste. The City of Lakeland Solid Waste Division made changes to yard waste operations in early April as an effort to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.

Bulk pick-up will also resume normal operations starting May 18th. Email SolidWasteManagement@lakelandgov.net to arrange a bulk pick-up. Please provide your address and type of material at the curb ready for collection in the email or call 863.834.8773 to arrange pick up for furniture, appliances, dead animals, and/or construction debris. The City of Lakeland Division of Solid Waste provides the following services: weekly recycling collection, weekly automated garbage collection, weekly yard waste collation, and scheduled bulk collection/special pickups.

City Manager Tony Delgado said, “We had to modify our yard waste collection because of the impacts of COVID-19. We are pleased to announce that our solid waste crews will resume normal operations starting Monday, May 18th so our customers will know exactly when their debris will be removed.” He added, “We are finalizing some additional safety protocols around the City that include temperature checks and masks as we start to initiate our plan to get back to normal operations.”

City of Lakeland Solid Waste serves customers inside the city limits of Lakeland.  City of Lakeland customers have a green garbage cart and a blue recycling cart. If your garbage can is gray, and your recycle can is black, you are a Polk County customer and therefore not serviced by the City of Lakeland.  For more information go to Lakelandgov.net/solidwaste.
