NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City Commission of the City of Lakeland, Florida will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 19, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter as can be heard in the City Hall Commission Chambers of the Lakeland City Hall, located at 228 S. Massachusetts Avenue in Lakeland, Florida.
The Public Hearing will be held to discuss the City of Lakeland Wastewater Systems Improvements Facilities Plan Update which describes proposed improvements to the City’s wastewater system. Project alternatives, costs, and financial impacts on system users will be discussed during the Public Hearing. The estimated construction costs are $77.7 million which the City intends to fund with a loan from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection State Revolving Fund program, grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, and City of Lakeland funds.
The following resolution, which includes adoption of the Facilities Plan, will be considered at the Public Hearing:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION STATE REVOLVING FUND LOAN PROGRAM; ADOPTING THE CITY OF LAKELAND WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS FACILITIES PLAN UPDATE DATED APRIL 2025; ADOPTING THE CITY OF LAKELAND STATE REVOLVING FUND CAPITAL FINANCING PLAN; AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF THE PLANS TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; DESIGNATING THE CITY OF LAKELAND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; AND PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
During consideration of the Resolution, the Lakeland City Commission may approve, disapprove or take other such action deemed appropriate in the public interest. A draft of the Plans and Resolution can be obtained from the office of the City Clerk, 228 S. Massachusetts Ave., Lakeland, FL 33801, Monday thru Friday, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the Public Hearing.
If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at this meeting, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
