2026 Annual Polk County Law Enforcement
Memorial Ceremony Set for May 7
Lakeland, FL - (April 3, 2026) - The Fraternal Order of Police Polk County Lodge #46 and the Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, Inc., will present the 38th Annual Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at the Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial in the Lakeland Veterans Memorial Park. The park is located on Lime Street, between Lake Beulah Drive and the west side of the R.P. Funding Center.
Being added to the list of fallen heroes on the memorial this year will be Sergeant Luther Howard of the Winter Haven Police Department (EOW 12/15/58) and Beverage Agent Sherman David of the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (EOW 3/11/87).
Each of the 39 fallen officers will be honored during the Memorial Service “Roll Call of Heroes.” Family members of fallen officers, representatives from various Polk County Law Enforcement and Corrections agencies, public service organizations, and Federal, State, County and Local government agencies will be participating.
Highlights of the service will include: Joint Agency Officer Processional March; Presentation of Colors by a Joint Agency Color Guard; Roll Call of Heroes; helicopter Fly Over; Retreat of the Fallen Rider by the PCSO Mounted Unit; bagpipe players; 3 Gun Volley; and Taps.
Immediately following the memorial service, the 38th Annual Memorial Service Luncheon, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police Polk County Lodge #46 and the Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, Inc., will be held at Lake Mirror Auditorium, 121 South Lake Avenue, Lakeland, Florida. The public is invited to attend both the memorial service and luncheon at no cost. The luncheon will be catered and will feature photo backdrops, commemorative memorial coins, a sign-in book, and other thoughtful elements designed to make the event more meaningful and memorable.
