LDDA Elections



NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the election of the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for all property owners not wholly exempt from ad valorem taxation and registered electors within the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority area.  The election shall be held in the office of the City Clerk located at 228 S. Massachusetts Ave., Lakeland, Florida. 

 Contact the City Clerk’s office at 834-6210 or for the latest information on the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority election, or if you need an absentee ballot for the election.

At said election, qualified voters will decide on two (2) Lakeland Downtown Development Authority Board seats.

The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to a three-year term effective January 1, 2020 and ending December 31, 2022. In the event that only two (2) candidates qualify, they will win by default, and no election will be necessary.

Qualifying packets are available in the Lakeland City Clerk’s office. Please call for an appointment.

Qualifying period for candidates will be from noon, Monday, July 29, 2019 to noon, Friday, August 2, 2019 in Winter Haven at the Supervisor of Elections Office, 70 Florida Citrus Bl.  Any candidates who wish to run must qualify at this time.  Candidates must qualify in person.  

To serve on this Board and remain qualified to serve, all Board Members, except the City Commission member, must have their principal place of business or employment within the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority area or hold title to property within the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority area.
