LAKELAND, FL (August 3, 2020) | On Monday, August 3, 2020, the Lakeland City Commission extended the resolution requiring masks/face coverings consistent with CDC guidelines for those individuals inside the Lakeland corporate limits. The City Commission voted 5-2 in favor of the resolution with Commissioner Franklin and Commissioner Read being the dissenting votes. The new Resolution will expire at 5 p.m. on September 8, 2020, unless extended by further action of the City Commission.

LAKELAND, FL (July 28, 2020) | The City of Lakeland's summer recreational camp program, Camp BLAST, will be closed at the Kelly Recreational Complex location (404 Imperial Boulevard) for two days starting today and will reopen on Thursday, July 30th in order for staff to deep clean the facility due to possible COVID-19 related contact. Camp BLAST is scheduled to end on Friday, July 31st at both Kelly Recreation Complex and Simpson Park locations.
LAKELAND, FL (July 22, 2020) | The City of Lakeland Lakes & Stormwater Division will be undertaking a Surface Water Artificial Circulation Impact Study of Lake Mirror that includes the installation of a SolarBee® solar-powered artificial circulation system. The Impact Study will include a robust surface water sampling program throughout a four-month trial period to evaluate the efficacy of the SolarBee® and assess the potential water quality benefits in Lake Mirror.

LAKELAND, FL (July 17, 2020) | The City of Lakeland anticipates applying for Rebuild Florida General Planning Support (GSP) funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address mitigation needs to ensure that the state of Florida is more resilient to future natural disasters. This program is being administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) through the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program. A total of $20,000,000 in funding has been allocated by DEO for the General Planning Support Program.
