January 9, 2025 (Lakeland,  FL) | The City of Lakeland has announced the launch of a new flood risk portal that will enhance community outreach and make it easier for Lakeland residents, real estate and insurance professionals, developers and others to seamlessly access flood risk information for individual properties such as flood zone maps, as well as important documents like elevation certificates. The introduction of this new resource is part of Lakeland’s ongoing efforts to build a more flood-resilient community.

LAKELAND, FL (December 23, 2024) | The City of Lakeland will begin milling and resurfacing several collector streets as part of its roadway preventative maintenance program on Friday, January 10, 2025. The work will involve removing approximately 1.5 inches of existing asphalt (milling) and replacing it with 1.5 inches of new asphalt. This milling process is a standard practice that helps maintain consistent driveway and ADA ramp elevations, preventing the need for adjustments due to changes in pavement height. Below are the start and completion dates for each project. Please note that weather conditions and equipment issues may cause slight delays.

LAKELAND, FL (December 19, 2024) | Gandy Pool will close for a resurfacing project starting January 2, 2024. This marks the first major resurfacing since the pool was last renovated in 2004. With more than 30 years of experience in municipal government leadership, Hernandez brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Prior to joining the City of Lakeland as Assistant City Manager, he served as City Manager in both Cape Coral, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia.
