LAKELAND, FL (October 6, 2020) | The City of Lakeland’s Mask/Face Covering Resolution expired Monday, October 5^th at 5 p.m.  The item was not placed on the October 5^th City Commission meeting agenda for discussion and/or a vote so it expired at 5 p.m.  Mayor Bill Mutz said, “Even though the City’s Mask/Face-Covering resolution expired, we still strongly encourage Lakeland area residents to wear a face-covering as the first line of defense in helping curb the spread of the coronavirus.”

LAKELAND, FL (October 1, 2020) | The Lakeland Mayor's Council on the Arts, a group formed by a resolution of the Lakeland City Commission, has created a new way to experience and discover The Arts in Lakeland–Lkld Arts.

LAKELAND, FL (September 25, 2020) | The Martin Luther King Junior Parade Committee and the City of Lakeland have made the decision to cancel the upcoming 2021 Reverend Dr. MLK Jr. Parade due to the unknowns and obstacles created by the Coronavirus pandemic.

LAKELAND, FL (September 24, 2020) | CSX Railroad notified the City of Lakeland about crossing closures that will be taking place starting October.  CSX contractors will be remove existing crossings, replacing railroad ties, and repaving the crossing. When storms damage put communities in crisis, our Lakeland Electric team answers the call. On August 27th, Hurricane Laura made landfall as a damaging Category 4 hurricane in Louisiana. Our mutual aid team was already on its way to provide assistance. The hurricane caused extensive damage and tied with the 1856 Last Island Hurricane as the strongest hurricane to make Louisiana's landfall.

LAKELAND, FL (September 11, 2020) | The Reopen Lakeland Taskforce and the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce have partnered with Love Lakeland, a 501(c)3 organization, in seeking community support through an initiative to support forty-one Lakeland-area public schools. The initiative, Adopt A School¸ calls for financial support from the community in an effort to ensure students, staff, and faculty remain safe and healthy in the 2020-2021 academic year and in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
