LAKELAND, FL (November 2, 2022) | On Saturday, November 12^th at 10 a.m. there will be a ceremony unveiling the Spanish-American War Monument at Veterans Park located at 701 West Lime Street.  Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11^th, the anniversary of the end of WWI. On this day we honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. The Veterans Day Parade will step off immediately following the ceremony. The parade will leave the RP Funding Center at 11 a.m. and travel down Lemon Street to downtown Lakeland, turning left on Kentucky Avenue, and ending at Munn Park.

LAKELAND, FL (October 20, 2022) | The City of Lakeland just completed the 42^nd Annual Swan Roundup.  This event allows the City’s swan veterinarian to oversee the health and vitality of Lakeland’s swan flock.  Dr. Price Dickson from My Pet’s Animal Hospital and her staff provided wellness examinations on the 73 swans that make up the Lake Morton flock.  There are three different breeds of swans, including Mute Swans, Australian Black Swans, and one lone Black Necked Swan.

LAKELAND, FL (October 18, 2022) | Starting Monday, October 24^th, the City of Lakeland Water Department will be replacing an older and problematic asbestos water main with PVC pipe along the east side of Lake Hollingsworth Drive between Collins Lane and Crystal Lake Drive.  The project is in the current budget cycle at a cost of $175,000 and it will take approximately six weeks to complete.

Eight citizens expressed interest and submitted their names for consideration.

LAKELAND, FL (October 17, 2022) | City Manager Shawn Sherrouse is pleased to announce Mike Beckham as General Manager of Lakeland Electric, effective Sunday, October 16, 2022. Beckham had been serving as Interim General Manager since April 2022 when previous Lakeland Electric General Manager Joel Ivy accepted a position with Lubbock Power & Light.
