LAKELAND, FL (November 4, 2020) | This year, Snowfest will look a little different but the show will still go on as the City of Lakeland Celebrates the 40^th Anniversary of this holiday tradition.  Snowfest 2020 will take place on Friday, December 4^th and Saturday, December 5^th from 6-9 p.m. at the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror.

LAKELAND, FL (October 26, 2020) | A Lift Lakeland event will occur at the RP Funding Center’s Sikes Hall on Thursday, October 29^th, at 6 p.m.  City of Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz said, “The purpose of this Phase One meeting is to allow input from citizens at-large to shape the community-inspired Lift Lakeland Plan.  We will bridge social gaps with people-centered solutions and create a network of harmony.”

LAKELAND, FL (October 22, 2020) | The Florida Department of Transportation will be replacing underground drainage on US 98 at Sleepy Hill Road in Polk County. Work is expected to begin on Monday, November 9^th, and is anticipated to be completed prior to Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and expect delays.

LAKELAND, FL (October 20, 2020) | The Lakeland City Commission deliberated for approximately 53 minutes that ended with a 6-1 vote naming Shawn Sherrouse as City Manager.

LAKELAND, FL (October 15, 2020) | Due to overwhelming interest in the upcoming Swan Sale, the City of Lakeland will be holding a lottery tomorrow (10/16) at 11 a.m. to randomly select individuals who are interested in purchasing a pair of the City’s swans at $400 per swan. 

LAKELAND, FL (October 14, 2020) | There will be modifications to the City’s downtown parking starting Monday, October 19^th with the most notable changes taking place around Lake Mirror.  The City’s parking team recently met with downtown stakeholders and that meeting sparked a planning session with the goal to generate additional parking uses in front of the Joinery, the new Catapult facility, and the Lake Mirror Complex. 

LAKELAND, FL (October 9, 2020) | The Lakeland City Commission narrowed the list of City Manager candidates to three finalists during a meeting on October 9^th.  The search firm GovHR lead by Heidi Voorees originally provided a list of 16 candidates recommended for further consideration in the hiring process.  The Commission then narrowed that list to six candidates that eventually turned into four semi-finalist candidates after Edward Phillips and Michael Moore bot dropped out after accepting positions elsewhere.

LAKELAND, FL (October 6, 2020) | On Sunday, October 11^th, a contractor for the City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division will begin working on a project to replace a degraded 10” sewer main along the east side of South Florida Avenue from Alamo Drive north to an area about 250 feet north of Horizon Court.
