LAKELAND, FL (June 2, 2020) | Following the direction from Governor DeSantis’ Office and Executive Order 20-131, the City of Lakeland will continue a phased reopening of Park spaces.

LAKELAND, FL (June 2, 2020) | Peter Lugo, Co-Founder and President of Lugo’s Craft Spirits, LLC will be donating 400 personal bottles of hand sanitizer to the City of Lakeland On Wednesday, June 3^rd at 10 a.m. Mayor Bill Mutz and other City officials will accept the donation that will be used as facilities start to re-open to the public. Lugo's Craft Spirits is a family-owned and operated distillery in the heart of Lakeland that specializes in developing craft rum spirits. During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the company started producing hand sanitizer as a way to assist in meeting the high demand for the product. 

LAKELAND, FL (June 1, 2020) – The Lakeland City Commission voted unanimously to instill a City-wide curfew mirroring the Polk County Sheriff Department’s curfew that goes into effect at 8 p.m. this evening and expires at 5 a.m. in on the morning of June 2^nd.  

LAKELAND, FL (May 29, 2020) | Site work continues on Summit Consulting’s new eight-story 135,000 square foot building located at 117 N. Massachusetts Avenue in downtown Lakeland. Summit purchased this 1.2-acre Lake Mirror property from the City of Lakeland in early March after completing an extended due diligence period.

LAKELAND, FL (May 29, 2020) | City Manager Tony Delgado announces his retirement after 23 years of service with the City of Lakeland effective September 26, 2020. Delgado said, “This certainly was not an easy decision and I am honored that I was provided the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lakeland. This is such a wonderful and vibrant community and I am proud to have been part of an outstanding team of public servants who work diligently to assist in making Lakeland a great place to live and work.”

The Lakeland City Commission will discuss agenda items in detail at the Agenda Study session on Friday, May 29^th starting at 8:30 a.m. 

LAKELAND, FL (May 22, 2020) | A number of City of Lakeland Park facilities will start opening to the public on June 1, 2020 with safety protocols in place.  Park users are strongly encouraged to practice social distancing, good hygiene, and personal protection when using City of Lakeland facilities.

LAKELAND, FL (May 20, 2020) | The City of Lakeland was selected to receive a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award for Operation Awareness and Citizen Engagement Solutions by ESRI. ESRI is an international supplier of geographic information system software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications. The company was founded as the Environmental Systems Research Institute in 1969 as a land-use consulting firm and since that time they have become a leader in GIS solutions.

LAKELAND, FL (May 15, 2020) | As the federal, state, and local governments are starting to unveil their return-to-work plans, employers are anxious to resume operations and get employees back to the workplace. 

LAKELAND, FL (May 14, 2020) | Starting Monday, May 18^th City of Lakeland solid waste services including yard waste pick-up will go back to normal operations.  City of Lakeland solid waste customers will have same day service for solid waste, recycling, and yard waste. The City of Lakeland Solid Waste Division made changes to yard waste operations in early April as an effort to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.
