LAKELAND, FL (September 4, 2025) | Get ready to set sail (or sink!) at the 20th Annual Cardboard Boat Challenge & Lakes Festival, happening Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Lake Hollingsworth Boat Ramp (920 Lake Hollingsworth Drive). Hosted by the Lakes Education/Action Drive and the City of Lakeland, this fun-filled event is designed to raise awareness and appreciation for our local lakes.

LAKELAND, FL (September 2, 2025) - The City of Lakeland has been awarded $368,852 in grant funding from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) through the State Water Quality Assistance Grant (SWAG) Non-Point Source Program. The funds will support the Lake Mirror Inlet Basket Retrofit Nutrient Removal Project.

LAKELAND, FL (August 12, 2025) | The City of Lakeland is proud to officially launch Learning Lakeland, an exciting new youth engagement initiative. The program is designed to educate the City’s youngest residents about local government, public services, and those that make the City operate—all through the eyes of five animated characters known as the Learning Lakeland Explorers.  These colorful characters — Morty the Swan, Toby the Turtle, Ollie the Otter, Blinky the Alligator, and Polly the Butterfly— will serve as tour guides for children as they journey to learn what makes Lakeland such a unique and vibrant community.

LAKELAND, FL (August 7, 2025) | The City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division will be performing an essential repair to replace a damaged sewer service line at the intersection of Lake Hollingsworth Drive and Fairmont Avenue. Bypass pumps have already been installed to maintain sewer service until the repair work begins.
