TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | FEMA, which administers the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), announced program updates that were created to help enhance access to flood insurance. These changes make it easier for homeowners and renters to select and pay for a flood insurance policy.

LAKELAND, FL (December 5, 2024) - On November 12, 2024, the City of Lakeland placed four roll-off containers at key locations within the Lake Bonny neighborhood to assist with debris removal following Hurricane Milton. The City also deployed claw trucks and personnel to support the clean-up efforts.

Bartow, Fla. (December 3, 2024) — A Florida Gas Transmission project postponed due to recent cold weather has been rescheduled to start early Thursday morning December 5, shortly after midnight.

LAKELAND, FL (December 2, 2024) | As of December 2, 2024, the elevation of Lake Bonny is 129.74, within its normal elevation range and below the established 10-year flood stage of 130.10 that permits the City and County to operate the City’s emergency electric pump.  In coordination with Polk County, FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and with approval from the Southwest Florida Water Management District, pumping operations have been halted. The Army Corps of Engineers will soon start dismantling and removing their pumps.
