The Lakeland Fire Department makes great efforts to be an active part of its community by giving citizens the opportunity to learn more about the department, what it does, and the men and women that do it, through fun and educational non-emergency interactions.

Education as Prevention

The department understands the important role fire safety education plays in reducing risk and loss of life in the City of Lakeland. The department offers several fire prevention programs for children 4 to 17 years of age, delivered in Lakeland area schools and educational organizations. The department also offers learning programs for adults. You can learn more about individual programs in the Fire Prevention Education section.

In addition to the department’s educational programs, LFD offers several community programs.

Station tours are the department’s most popular offering with tours available to groups of all sizes.

Learn more about each by exploring the department’s Programs and Events section.
