"About the Florida Neighborhoods Conference"
The City of Lakeland is thrilled to host the 9th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference dedicated to empowering residents to become more effective in leading their own communities to greater heights. As in the past, the Conference will allow a full complement of workshops and tours, keynote speakers along with social events and ample time for networking with old and new friends.

The State Planning Committee consists of representatives from more than 20 City and County Neighborhood Offices. Their goal is to provide a valuable learning experience for those who attend and participate in this three day event. The State Planning Committee solicited ideas to improve this conference from residents throughout many cities and counties in Florida. Every program is based on evaluations from previous conferences and surveys.

Corporate and municipal sponsors are vital to the success of this Conference. Registration fees are kept as low as possible to provide the opportunity for residents from all income levels to fully participate in this dynamic event. We are deeply indebted to the many sponsors that make this Conference a reality.

Despite hurricanes battering the state in 2004, over 1,300 people participated in the State Conference held in Jacksonville on September 16 – 18 of that year. Because Lakeland is centrally located in the state, we anticipate even more residents will avail themselves of this tremendous opportunity to obtain information to help them improve the quality of life in their own neighborhoods. We look forward to your arrival so that you can discover why Lakeland is such a special place to call home.
