LakelandPD High School Police Academy
2023 DATES: JULY 24 - 28, 2023.
The Lakeland Police Department is looking for a few good teens, to participate in a one-week, hands-on course for young people who are interested in a career in law enforcement or students who would like to find out more about the Lakeland Police Department.
This is a one week, highly interactive program, which allows High School students to see what a career in Law Enforcement is all about. Spots will be limited and acceptance into the program will be based on the below criteria and qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age and going into the 11th grade, 12th grade or just graduated.
- No Arrests
- No out of school suspensions in the last year
- Must maintain a “C” average or better
- Must be willing to participate in all activities (Academic and Physical)
- Must be interested in a career in law enforcement
- Receive parental or legal guardian approval
- Complete and submit the application packet by mail or email.
Topics to be covered:
Team Building, Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Investigation, Defensive Tactics, Traffic Stops, Building Searches, Physical Fitness, Suspect Encounters, Demos from different units and the responsibilities of wearing the badge.
